Yasuko Yamamoto, 82, of Barrington passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2021. She was born on September 1, 1939 in Kumamoto, Japan to the late Yoshio and Aya Teshima.
Yasuko immigrated to the United States at the age of 52 and was proud to become a U.S. citizen. She still had a deep love for Japan and enjoyed all things Japanese – from TV programs to food. Yasuko always kept herself busy by staying active year round; she enjoyed gardening in the warmer months and knitting and needlepoint in the cooler months. Yasuko also had earned a culinary certificate – which was presented through all of her great cooking. She was a generous woman and many of her knitted items were donated to homeless children and her church.
Above all, Yasuko was an animal lover. She treasured any animal she came across, even tiny insects. She even became friendly with many of the neighborhood dogs while on her routine walks.
Yasuko is survived by her daughters, Yuko (Tetsuro) Mitani of Barrington and Shoko Ohbayashi; granddaughter, Mizuki Ohbayashi; and by her dog, Hina.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 4 PM until the funeral service at 5 PM at Village Church of Barrington, 1600 E. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd) Barrington, IL 60010. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Village Church of Barrington.
