Barrington, Illinois,

Yvonne Herren Erskine passed peacefully in her sleep Thursday, March 15,2012, at her home in Barrington.

She was born on September 9,1924, to Wilson Teague and Yvonne Hass Herren, at 314 W. Russell Street, Barrington.

She was one of the original families who grew up in Barrington back in the 1920's - with family in the area since the mid 1800's. During the depression, her family moved west to mine gold and she live in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain area.  The family returned as her engineering father opened an airplane manufacturing plant and she graduated from Barrington High School.

At work at WGN studios, she met her future husband when she misspelled his name but ended up on a date with him.  She married Chris Erskine of Chicago in 1955 and after a few years in Pekin, Illinois settled in to a life in Barrington.

Her gifts for gardening and cooking were shared with all in her wonderful ability to host and her neighborhood will truly miss her. 

She is survived by her adored children, Christopher (Cathy) Michael Erskine of La Canada, Eleanor Herren Erskine of Portland, Oregon and Holly (John) Madden of Deer Park; grandchildren, Jessica Laine, Christopher Michael, Emily Elizabeth and Jack Charles Wilson Erskine of La Canada and  Amy Yvonne, Christa Herren, Melissa Mary, Katheryn Diana, John McCauley and Carrie Anne Madden of Deer Park, all of whom will miss her dearly for both her hugs and constant good humor; sister, Jane (Ned) Lund of Bellingham, Washington; nieces nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris; brother, Robert W. Herren; and sister, Jean Herren Smith.

Visitation will be 3-7p.m., Monday, March 19,2012, at Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 E. Main Street (Lake-Cook Rd.), Barrington, IL 60010.

Funeral Service will be at 10a.m., Tuesday, March 20,2012, at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery following the service.
