Morgan Jayne Hill

Morgan Jayne Hill, 27, of Cary passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023. She was born in Elk Grove, Ill. on October 16, 1995.

Morgan was proud of her personal story that brought her to her parents Sandi and Tracy Hill and shared that through her work as a spokesperson for Save Abandoned Babies Foundation and National Safe Haven Alliance.  Her work saved many children and brought them into loving and caring homes. Morgan’s contagious laugh, sweet smile and personality made people feel as if they had known her forever even if they talked only for moments.  Morgan enjoyed karaoke, darts, riding motorcycles, dancing, organizing events but most of all spending time with her horse, Rapid.  If she was with the people she loved Morgan was content, happy and having lots of fun-laughter was always a guarantee!

She is survived by her parents Kenneth “Ken” and Kelly Hester.; brothers, Andy Hill, TK (Stella) Hill, Shawn Swan, and Dean Cardella; sisters, Heidi Hester, and Stevie (Lenny) Blomquist; boyfriend, Tim Boyd; many other loving family members and friends that were brothers and sisters in heart!
Morgan was preceded in death by her parents, Tracy and Sandra “Sandi” Hill and her brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Hester, Jr,.

A visitation will be Friday, February 17, from 4pm until 8pm at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave., Crystal Lake.  The visitation will continue Saturday morning from 9:00am until a service at 12:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

Save Abandoned Babies Foundation Mourns Loss of Morgan Jayne Hill – Friend, Leader and Safe Haven Law Advocate

Chicago, IL – The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation today announced the tragic passing of Morgan Jayne Hill, who died on Thursday from epilepsy. Hill was a member of the Board of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation and a national spokesperson about the Safe Haven law.

Hill became involved with the Safe Haven law due to her own personal story of being abandoned as a newborn.

“Morgan had an angel watching over her when she was born,” noted Dawn Geras, founder and past president of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation. “As a newborn, she was discovered in a dumpster by a construction worker and a nurse who heard her cries and rescued her.”

“It is a miracle that she was found,” Geras added, “instead of becoming just another statistic of a newborn left to die.”

As Morgan grew up in a loving adoptive family, she learned about her story and began to share it with others. She connected with other children who were saved under the Safe Haven law and became their big sister and friend. She reunited with the people who saved her and shared her story so others would know about the Safe Haven law.

After joining the Board of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, Hill became a spokesperson for awareness about the Safe Haven law, travelling around the country as a speaker at events including as a keynote speaker for the National Safe Haven Alliance. She worked on a social media campaign to have people take photos of Safe Haven signs, so people would know they could bring their newborn to a person at a police station, fire station or emergency medical facility.

“At first Morgan wasn’t confident as a public speaker – but she kept speaking, and each time she got better.” Geras noted, “It takes courage to tell the story that you were abandoned as a baby. But Morgan saw it has her mission to share her story so that people would know about the Safe Haven law and know they had an option to unsafely abandoning their child. Morgan always spoke from her heart – and connected with so many people.”

As a Board Member of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, Morgan wanted to do more to help public awareness about the Safe Haven law. She and her friends liked to ride motorcycles, so she came up with an idea to do a charity motorcycle ride to raise money and awareness. In 2021, Morgan created Ride Baby Ride, a day-long motorcycle ride, fundraiser picnic and auction. Over the past two years, Morgan lined up event sponsors, auction donors, and motorcyclists, volunteers, media and friends to participate in the event – all to bring awareness about the Safe Haven law.

“Morgan’s caring for others was infectious,” noted Genie Kutchins, president of the Save Abandoned Babies Foundation, “in addition to her public speaking and leadership with theRide Baby Ride motorcycle event, she loved connecting with people and was not afraid to tell her story.

She always would say, “If my story can make a difference with one person and give an option to a desperate mother to make the decision to bring their baby to a Safe Haven, then my efforts are worthwhile.”

“We have lost a family member today,” added Dawn Geras, “Morgan was a courageous, admirable young woman wanting help others. We are deeply saddened by her passing but thankful for her contributions to others – and the legacy she has left.”
