Nancy Edwina (Nelson) Gieseke

Nancy Edwina Gieseke (nee Nelson), age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Nancy was born on July 15, 1931 in Oak Park, IL. She was a graduate of Palatine Highschool and later worked part-time for Sears Roebuck Catalogue until her retirement in 1983 . She was member of many clubs and organizations, including Crystal Lake Club, Senior Class Club, Prayer Shawl Club, Immanuel Lutheran Church, and the Altar Guild. Nancy was also a part-time volunteer at Bethesda Thrift Store, She mostly enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and always made them a priority. Nancy also greatly valued the love and companionship of her late husband of 59 years, Glen. The love, care, respect, and friendship between the two is what helped to them so many wonderful years of marriage.

Nancy is survived by her loving children, David (Melody) and Donald (Brenda) Gieseke; cherished grandchildren, Tim (Becky) Gieseke, Randy (Jamie) Gieseke, Brittany (Eric) Weber, JaLynn (Ian) McKenzie, Kaylan Gieseke, and Lliot Gieseke; adored great-grandchildren, Jackson, Clayton, Jacob, Kyle, and Caleb Gieseke, Zachary and Travis Weber, and Ethan McKenzie; as well as many nieces and nephews, especially Judy LaZonby for the love and care that she had shown Nancy.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Gieseke; parents, Edward and Nellie Nelson; siblings, Herbert, Wallace, and Bruce Nelson.

A visitation for Nancy will be held from 9:30am until the time of service at 11:30am on December 20, 2022 Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. Burial to follow at Windridge Cemetery in Cary, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Pathway Ct, Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
