Thomas I. Fraser, Jr., 96, of Prairie Grove, was born on November 2, 1921 in Chicago to the late Thomas I. Fraser, Sr. and the late Nell (nee Payne) Fraser and passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on January 26, 2018.
Tom earned his bachelor degree from DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois and did graduate studies at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. He served in the U.S. Navy Pacific Theatre from 1943 to 1946. Tom was an electrician for the City of Chicago and after retirement, he worked at Mike’s Service Center and Prairie Ridge High School. Tom sang in the Paulist Choir, St. Thomas of Villanova Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Arlingtones.
Tom was the loving husband of Patricia B. (nee Butzen); cherished father of Lynne (Steven) Small, Gail (Jim) Kenny, Mary Lou (Terry) Lubrano, Michael (Suanne) Fraser, James (Linda) Fraser, Joan Stromberg (Sam D’Amico) and Susan (Joe) Cole; grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 21. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Lisa Small.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, from 5:00pm until the time of Mass at 7:00pm at St. Marcelline Catholic Church, 822 South Springinsguth Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60193. Interment will be held privately at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery.
